Today, I decided to check out a Nikkor prime lens or the 50mm f/1.8D AF.
I initially asked the other shops for a quote. The problem with that id they have a price but not the item...which was really useless if one need to buy it already.
Then I went to Mayer, It was full of people. One can really identify the owners who manage the store. I tried to get the attention of the Male owner, if i am not mistaken his name as Ramon?!?
Anyways, I was trying to ask how much the lens was and he kept ignoring me like I was not infront of him. I waited as he was making casual conversations with other customers...Again I tried to get his attention and ask how much the item was and to my surprise, he said "anong tanong? walang tanong dito!!! then he pointed me to his staff and said "dyan ma magtanong kung gusto mo" and then he turned to another customer making small talk. He was fucking crazy!!.
I stood there, offended and confused."What the fuck just happened?"
I did not understand at all.
Then a customer saw the paper I was holding and perhaps got a glimps of what happened asked me what I was buying. Then with a loud voice I said " I was asking him for the price of a lens but he didn't want to talk to me. Mukha ba akong walang pambili? " then he heard me and just looked.
Then I approached the wife who was busy with inventory as she noticed what I said. I aske her "Pwede po ba ako magtanong sa inyo kasi ayaw nya ako kausapin kanina pa" Pointing to that Ramon-owner chinese guy., "Mahirap naman po bumili ng hindi mo alam magkano di ba? kaya po ako nagtatanong" Then i proceeded to ask. She gave me the prices and everything I wanted. It was very simple. They also have a stock of what I wanted.
I politely noted everything and said "Salamat po, balik po ako"
I went out and decided if I really wanted to buy one. I did. So I went to withdraw the amount I needed and went back to the wife and i said "Bili po ako tinanong ko kanina"
I saw that man-owner-guy looking at my direction perhaps realizing that he was a complete ASSHOLE and an ARROGANT BEHO for treating me bad just minutes ago.
I got what I wanted. When I was paying,the lady owner asked where i bought mu D60 and I instantly said "In Tokyo...last May". The man-owner-looks, then I asked for a higher priced prime lens and if it was available, the man-owned-guy injected himself in the conversation and this time, with a pinch of respect.
I felt bad about the incident. But I controlled myself. He will not get the best of me. I really wanted that lens and I got it. That is what is important.
The owner of that mayer shop should get some manners. Yes, he sells nice stuff, maybe cheaper than the others, but he should have some MANNERS as well.
He should realize that there are people who also consider how customers are treated. A few additional hundreds or thousands will not be an issue in exchange for better treatment.
He was so out of line and utterly RUDE that he reflects the exterior of his shop, Dingy, Dirty and close to being a Dump!
If the other store had the stock of the item i wanted even if it were slightly expensive, I would have gone to them. Theirs was cleaner and much more customer friendly.
IN TIME, MAYER/MEYER IN HIDALGO WILL CLOSE SHOP BECAUSE OF THE ATTITUDE OF THAT OWNER. YES, MAYBE AT PRESENT, THEY ARE OKAY, BUT IF HE FLASHES HIS "ATTITUDE" TO JUST ONE PERSON A DAY, LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY, I SHALL NOT GO BACK TO HIS DIRTY SHOP AND LOOK FOR ANOTHER SHOP. oNE PERSON EVERY DAY IS ALL IT TAKES.
oNE DAY, HE WILL REGRET HIS WAYS..ONE DAY, COMPETITORS WITH BETTER CUSTOMER HANDLING WILL KILL HIS BUSINESS...
As for me, I am very happy with my purchase. i just hope that the lens will endure the test of time so that i do not have to go back there for the warranty.
Do me a favor, if you can, boycott that shop.

VERY friendly. nagrereply sa txt and call..hehe..may site din sya. http://definition.com.ph/ He's much talked about sa PIPHO daw. and he also have grey units and units with columbia warranty...un nga lang puro nikon dun..hehe.. i hope this would help..hehe..about dun sa mayer..di na lang ako dun cgro bibili..malayo dn kasi sa min..hehehe.. ^_^ |

same thing happen to a lady holding a piece of paper asking for prices when i was about to buy my camera.
Ramon: "May cash ka ba dala? *pauses* ano mag-a-ATM ka? lampas yun presiyo sa ATM limit mo!"
Ramon has a point, specially for the kind of glass the lady (more of manang) wants... its more than the ATM can give out in a day.
I guess over all speaking, Ramon has his own nitch market - people who has the money in hand and ready to have a quick transaction knowing Meyer's is the cheapest.
A good analogy i guess would be Cathay Pacific and Cebu Pacific
Henry is like Cathay Pacific and Meyer would be like Cebu Pacifc
you may have save more money at Cebu Pacific but end up having extra ordinary services like no food.
im not saying that the products of Meyers are horrible or not good, but their public relation is not that of your normal everyday standard.
i guess try to understand Meyer's mentality... imagine you are selling a certain item online... you place you contact details. you know your selling it at a bargain, and you know that people into that item should know that it is a bargain as well. now, wont you be annoyed if people just kept asking you for the last price?

About the attitude of Mang Ramon, if my guess is right, he's old school pure Chinese. My dad used to tell me stories about Chinese businessmen, and they really have an attitude, especially if he thinks you're wasting their time. You gotta have the guts to haggle and be straight to the point if you want to deal with them. I'll try to visit his store and witness first hand if what my dad says is right. XD |

 | natatawa naman ako sa mga comments nyo about mang ramon. but in my personal opinion, there should be no excuse for what he's doing to his customers. it would be like tolerating his attitude kse. kung chinese man sya, kelan pa ba sya dumating dito sa pinas? di ba dapat naka-adjust na sya? haha! dapat nga mabait sya sa atin kse mga pilipino ang pinagkakakitaan nya kaya sya yumayaman. kung magsusungit sya bumalik na lang sya ng tsina. hahaha! and i don't think reason din ang pagiging pagod para magtaray sa mga customers. hindi dapat humarap sa customers kung pagod or in a bad mood ka. eh di magpahinga ka muna, ikaw naman may-ari ng store eh! mejo naiintindihan ko pa mga saleslady kse sila no choice maghapon nakatayo, ilang minutes lang ang break kaya minsan nagiging masungit na sa dami ng customers (pero syempre mali pa din). sa ibang stores nga un mga empleyado pa ang masungit, pero pag un may-ari ang kausap mo ang bait naman. kse they know it's their business, and their business is not just selling stuff but also service. siguro kung sa ibang bansa yan matagal nang nalugi yung store nya. tayo lang kseng mga pilipino masyadong matiisin. minsan wala na tayong pride. basta makamura lang. hehe... pero bad sya ha, nandi-discriminate. dapat ba mukhang mayaman pag nagpupunta dun? o inglesero? magsuot kaya ako ng tshirt na me tatak ADMU or La Salle? meron akong friend mukhang mayaman pero walang pera, maputi lang kc sya. hahaha! anyways, thanks for posting these things. sa iba na lang ako bibili ng lens na gusto ko kesa ma-highblood ako. wehehe... ;-) |

nun time na bumili ako si mang ramon ang nkipagtransaction sa akin at maayos nman sya that time as in parang "anghel"...Ü dpat grey unit lng ang kukunin ko, then he offer me cdsc unit na lng ang kunin ko.. he gave me a very good offer para cdsc na lng ang kunin ko. as in binigay nya sa akin lahat ng gusto at tawad ko, kaya ganun na lng din nagulat ung mga kasabay kong bumibili sa store, hangang sa akin na lng sila nagtatanong... "magkanu kuha mu/magkanu bigay seo"? tpos may isang guy na nagtanong kay mang ramon "kuha ko bukas din nyan, sa ganyan presyo ha! " ang sagot ni mang ramon: "ay nde! bket ngaun ka ba kukuha?! pra sa kanya lng yan... cash ngaun!" sumagot ung guy "eh cash din nman ako bukas eh!" mang ramon "nde ngaun"...
hehe nakakatawa lng tlga si mang ramon.... tpos meron din dun nagccanvas canvas lng... tpos nun nkapag decide na syang bibili ayaw na sya pansinin ni mang ramon... =) hehe sabi sa kanya "naku nde na balik ka na lang!!! sorry wala!"
hehe should i say sumpungin lng tlga si mang ramon! =) at eto pa pla, bumalik ako kinabukasan at pra bumili sana ng neoprene cover, when i ask mang ramon kung meron sila nun sgot sa akin "wla, wla kme nun!" in sarcastic tone... oh diba sumpungin tlga sya! =P

Naalala ko ino-offer niya sakin nun yung isang sony digicam na worth 30k ata sa malls for only 17k. Pero, kasi magwi-withdraw pa lang si mama nun, so sinumpong. I ended up buying sa Watson's XD
BTW, totoo bang mas mura ang pentax sa camerahaus branch sa quiapo? Ang mahal kasi pag sa mall e (39k ata ang kit ng pentax k-x). Or, may iba pa bang pwedeng bilhan ng pentax dSLRs sa quiapo aside sa camerahaus? Kahit gray pa.

| masmaganda po D3000 ^_^ karamihan ng 1000D sa canon may Factory Defect po nag 1000D ako nung last 2008 pero sinoli ko masmaganda pa Nikon D40 hekhek..D3000 ayus lang din kasi 11 auto focus point and may D-Lightning kaya lang naman sinasabi nila na ma noise ang D3000 kasi Hindi agad naka on ung noise reduction saka naka on ung D-Lightning..pero atlis makikita mo ung object sa madilim na part.. |

 | Well i guess tama sumpungin nga si mang ramon..many times na nagpupunta ako doon paikot-ikot sa mga shop asking for price minsan di ka nya papansinin.But it ended up na kay mang ramon ko halos nabili mga videocam,editing & dslr ko. the last time na bumili nga ako ng dslr nikon d40x siguro last 2008 pa nasa good mode sya.may nakasabay kasi ako na bumili ng d80 at ung d40x that time new arrival pa lang at nilapag sa harapan ko.kaso that time kulang ang cash ko at d40 ang hinahanap ko.kaso out of stock. the good thing happend is. tinanong nya ako kung magkano dala ko ang sabi ko 4k ang kulang if buy ko ang d40x. sabi nya ok no problem bigay ko bank account ko then deposit mo nalang ang kulang..at pinabalot na ang item...well for me that time tuwang tuwa ako 1st buy ko ng dslr un at di ako makapaniwala during that time laki ng tiwala nya sa akin...e sa totoo lang pwede ko rin syang lokohin di ba?

 | Add ko rin sa inyo lahat 5x or more na ako nagpabalikbalik sa mayer since i bought my dslr and almost all my accessories sa kanya ko na binili but not once sinungitan ako ni mang ramon. siguro becoz from the start i went there not to canvass as i was told not to by many at decided na ako sa gusto ko and alam ko na lahat about it. and the unit, couldnt be happier, no complaints works like a dream.

 | Can anybody help me? I am looking for a TOKINA AT-X 100mm f/2.8 PRO D MACRO lens for my Nikon D60 camera. Have inquired from the major shops in R Hidalgo. They don't carry this model. Maybe its because there is very little demand for a MACRO lens. What they carry are mostly Nikon Macro lens or Sigma Macro lens. The Nikon Macro lens is double the price of a Tokina Macro lens. And from what I read in the internet Review, the Tokina model gives very good photos. Why pay double the price is the quality is "almost " the same! So, anybody there can help me on this!
I prefer to buy locally rather than going to HongKong or Singapore to buy it. No warranty there. If I buy via Amazon.com, I will have to wait for a relative of mine to come to Manila to visit to get hold of the item. |
